Claims Adjuster
General Definition
A Claims Adjuster investigates, evaluates, negotiates and settles claims that are assigned to them by North Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company, Inc. Locations: Charlotte, Wilkesboro, OR Waynesville, NC.
Special Training, Education, Knowledge, and Skills Required
A bachelor’s degree or comparable work experience is preferred. Good oral and written communication skills are required. Must be able to conduct business in a professional manner by telephone or written communication and must be able to deal effectively with the public in stressful situations. Dependable, responsible person must be able to work independently and as a team member. Must obtain and maintain an adjuster license issued to them by the N.C. Department of Insurance. Must adhere to all educational, training and professional development requirements as set forth by North Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company, Inc.
Major Duties of Position
Verify coverage on loss assignments.
Promptly contact, and maintain contact, with insureds and claimants.
Establish reserves and update as needed.
Comply with regulatory guidelines.
Determine covered damages using provided resources.
Investigate losses and apply policy coverage.
Determine legal liability for losses.
Effect payment or denial of claims.
Maintain current, detailed notes and report on details of claims in various stages of development.
Manage/control expenses.
Attend various meetings/classes on behalf of the company.
Additional duties deemed necessary by management.
