Together with our North Carolina Farm Bureau members, we have built the largest domestic property and casualty insurance company in the state. Based in Raleigh, our Mutual Insurance Company is owned and controlled by our policyholders through an elected Board of Directors. With a network of agents located throughout the state, we now provide insurance for farm and non-farm policyholders alike in all 100 counties of North Carolina. We have over $2.2 billion in assets, write over $1 billion of premium annually, and hold an A.M. Best Company, Inc. rating of A (excellent). Our History

We got our start in 1953. That’s when NC Farm Bureau leaders, concerned by a lack of insurance coverage for farmers and rural communities in North Carolina, formed the North Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company. Although our company began with a mission to provide affordable insurance to farmers, our current products and services protect the diverse group of people and the multitude of needs that North Carolina embodies. That’s why we have remained faithful to our mission to serve NC Farm Bureau members in every community in North Carolina, ensuring that members have the appropriate and affordable insurance coverage they need.
