Customer Service Representative I
General Definition
Responsible for verbal and written communications received from agents, insureds, third parties and other departments.
Special Training, Education, Knowledge, and Skills Required
Prefer four-year college degree, business school, or comparable work experience.
Knowledge of company policy and procedures, including workflow for the Operations Department preferred.
Present a professional and personable attitude.
Analytical ability.
Ability to handle a high call volume and to work well under pressure.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
Experience in effective letter writing.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook preferred.
Prior computer experience and/or knowledge of Policy Center, the policy management system (PMS) and the Pay/Rec billing system preferred.
Basic knowledge of using pre-set queries to obtain information concerning receipt payments preferred.
Travel when necessary.
Completion of INS 21 preferred.
Major Duties of Position
Correspond with agents, insured, and third parties on a daily basis, including responses to emails, premium breakdown requests, and complaints from the Department of Insurance and Better Business Bureau.
Record work on the Customer Service database.
Complete follow-up work on all problems received via telephone or written correspondence.
Maintain Individual weekly desk count and production reports.
Process credit card payments.
Set up Manual Payment Schedules and Promissory Notes.
Assist in the sorting and routing of incoming mail to the unit.
Assist with NCJUA and Unidentified payment processing.
Assist with filing Loss Notices through the Exceed System.
Assist other home office personnel when the need occurs.
Review and research information for Continuous Coverage Reviews and determine whether requests should be forwarded to management for final decision.
Attain proficient knowledge of computer system applications, both PC and mainframe.
Attend company meetings and statewide training sessions as requested by management.
Perform other duties as deemed necessary or as developed and assigned by Customer Service Unit Supervisor, Operations Division Manager, or Senior Executive Operations.
